A Home Among Friends℠Exists to create housing communities for senior LGBTQ populations by: Buying and renovating existing housing stock and assisting homeowners in planning modifications to their homes to accommodate additional roommates.

Our Friendly Communities InitiativeIdentifies, purchases, and renovates existing housing located within naturally occurring retirement communities with walkable access to amenities, including healthcare, grocers, pharmacies, & restaurants. We focus on small-scale (4-12 units) that fit into existing areas.

Our Friendly Home InitiativeProvides residential planning design guidance offered on a fee for service (sliding scale) basis to homeowners who want to re-design their owned home to accommodate renters in private apartments with access to common living spaces.

We Are Recruiting ParticipantsFor both programs who explicitly seek community living.

Our Team
Ellen M. Waguespack
IIDA is a licensed Interior Designer and experienced Project Manager with over 40 years experience in the private and public sectors planning and overseeing construction for a wide variety of project types. She is a graduate of LSU, Collage of Design, School of Architecture's highly regarded Bachelor of Interior Design program. She has a professional and personal passion for building a better world- she is honored and excited to bring her planning and project management experience to this exciting opportunity to build a better community living experience for LBGTQ Seniors.

Joe Fay
Joe Fay has worked in senior management and led nonprofit organizations for 25 years, including the national offices of American Red Cross, American Lung Association, Reading Is Fundamental, Children's Brain Tumor Foundation, and ThinkCure! He is a graduate of Boston College and Columbia University Graduate School of Business and served for five years as a U.S. Navy Supply Corps Officer. He describes himself as "building safety nets for a living".
