We Have A Vision⬤ A demonstrable, replicable, and sustainable model of low-income senior housing.
⬤ Leveraging existing structures to build small communities of friends. ⬤ That fully integrate into and improve existing neighborhoods. ⬤ Starting in New Orleans for low-income LGBTQ seniors desperately in need of secure and welcoming homes. ⬤ And freely offered nationwide as a roadmap for replication to all seeking to build similar communities. ⬤ Done with good faith and entirely volunteer-driven. |
Donate to A Better HomeOur model requires only one-time capital investment, not on going charitable support, and is designed to be operationally financially self-sustaining for 20+ years.
Your support ensures low-income LGBT seniors living in New Orleans will live their golden years among friends in a safe, comfortable home. |
Many LGBTQ elders face a nightmare of housing uncertainty, financial difficulties, isolation, and poor physical and psychological health outcomes.
And this number is expected to rise. Nationally, an estimated 1.5 million LGBTQ people who are 65 or older live in the United States — and that total will double by 2030, according to SAGE. |
